The artworks on exhibition investigate shifting gender identities in the South African and global contexts. In recent times, established ideas about identity, gender and the spaces of the self have been constantly questioned, evoking Paul Gauguin’s 1897 question of “Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?”.
