Physically speaking, the heart is a muscular organ responsible for pumping blood through the blood vessels by repeated, rhythmic contractions. The figurative heart has commonly been viewed as the seat of motivation and emotion. At the heart of this exhibition is art’s capacity to reveal something of our innermost being: our most intimate thoughts and the most honest of our feelings. At the same time the artworks on exhibition play with the sentimentalism in the use of the shape of the heart, its decorative value and its metaphoric qualities. The exhibition includes sculpture, paintings, photography and digital work.
