Our art tours focus on contemporary South African art. The best of current exhibitions in Pretoria and Johannesburg are selected for the tours that are conducted by the curator of Fried Contemporary who holds a PhD in Art History and is a specialist in contemporary South African art.

Join us for an exciting art tour to Johannesburg on Saturday 17 November 2007 and Tuesday 20 November 2007, guided by Dr Elfriede Dreyer of the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Pretoria.
Itinerary:
10h00: Departure from the gallery premises per bus to the Johannesburg Art Gallery (JAG) to view the retrospective exhibition of Willem Boshoff at the Standard Bank Gallery.
11h00 – 13h00: Willem Boshoff - Word Forms and Language Shapes 1975-2007
Word Forms and Language Shapes 1975-2007 is a mid-career retrospective of work by the internationally acclaimed South African artist, Willem Boshoff (b.1951). The exhibition, curated by Warren Siebrits, opens on 25 September 2007 at the Standard Bank Gallery in Johannesburg and runs until 1 December. Arguably South Africa's leading conceptual artist, Boshoff is a sculptor fascinated by the forms of words and the shape of language. Included in the exhibition is his seminal work, KYKAFRIKAANS (1977-1980), a series of 100 concrete poems created on a manual typewriter consisting of forms and shapes derived by the artist using the Afrikaans language.13h00 - 14h30: Travel to Rosebank for a light meal and a drink.
14h30 - 16h00: Visit to Goodman Gallery for an exhibition by William Kentridge; and Warren Siebrits Gallery for Gerhard Marx exhibition.
16h00: Return home.
Fried Contemporary will provide the transport. You are however more than welcome to drive along with your own car if you want to return at an earlier stage.
The cost will be R200/person; the meal is optional and is not included.
