Besides our main functions as a gallery presenting high-quality exhibitions of established and promising upcoming artists and consulting to private and corporate art investors, the gallery provides training in a number of contemporary and traditional art practices. The reason for this additional educational focus of the gallery is that we are convinced that our country and our people need to become more culturally oriented, informed and conscious of the arts in general, and we believe that our gallery and training courses can contribute in a small way towards reaching this goal.

We approach the technical training conceptually, that is, you are made conscious all the time of the meaning and content underlying materials and other formal choices. The training in art practice is not only about the technique and making: it is a kind of training that changes the way you look at the world; it turns you into a more sensitive human being since it sharpens your observation and perceptual senses; and it stimulates your creative impulses so that even when you are doing the course(s) as a hobby and are employed in a totally different field, you will return to your everyday job with better problem solving skills and a more creative approach.

The gallery co-founder and curator, Prof. Elfriede Dreyer, who heads both the gallery and the studio, is a well known arts educator who has been teaching full-time in the visual arts at university level since 1990 and is an experienced lecturer in traditional as well as contemporary and electronic media. Lecturers are hand-picked and contracted for their outstanding performance as lecturers or artists and students can therefore be ensured of the best possible training.
